Beat, Groove and Trax

Testing consumer demand for an urban minicar, Chevrolet has developed three small vehicle concepts for the New York International Auto Show.

The three are called the Beat, Groove and Trax and all were designed at a GM studio in Inchon, South Korea, although the Beat was built in India, while the other two were fabricated at GM’s Warren, Michigan, Tech center.

The Beat is front-drive 3-door hatchback powered by a turbocharged 1.2-liter 4-cylinder engine mated to an automatic transmission. Designer Injo Kim characterizes his design as a micro import tuner that's "simple, free and casual, with a strong heart." And a hard-to-miss exterior, which is painted in a bright Vertigo green exterior. Even though the car is small, it rides on 17-in. wheels and has a larger rear wing, elongated LCD headlamps, flush B-pillar-mounted door handles, an aggressive front fascia and large rocker panels to give it a street racer look.

Free E Books

Audiobook-download site Simply Audiobooks offers a selection of free public-domain titles.

The books include Mark Twain's The Stolen White Elephant, Jack London's Call of the Wild and Joel Benton's The Life of P.T. Barnum. There are 11 titles to choose from, all of them in WMA format (which leaves iPod users out, unless they convert the files to AAC or MP3). Cleverly, the books are all divided into 3-5 minute chunks, which makes for easier navigation on portable players that lack bookmarking capabilities.
Check it out @ simplyaudiobooks.com

If your PC is built using an Intel motherboard with High Definition Audio support, you can take advantage of some cool enhancements. Open the Sound option in Control Panel, select the Speakers icon on the Playback tab, and click the Properties button. New ruling threatens to silence Net radio

New ruling threatens to silence Net radio
As an Internet radio listener, you may know that a recent government decision on royalty rates threatens to destroy the Internet radio industry. The fees that webcasters are now required to pay to play the music you hear amount to well over most Internet radio operators' gross revenues.

So unless we can get the rates changed, services like AccuRadio will be bankrupt and go silent.

Internet radio helps promote music and artists that otherwise have few options to reach Save The Streams.orgpotential fans. To learn more about the royalty ruling, and about what you can to do help us fight this ruling, visit SaveTheStreams.org. From there you'll find links to sign a petition and to contact your representatives in Congress to tell them to save Internet radio.
